Residency Program
Moran Eye Center
The Moran Eye Center is the largest vision research and treatment center between the West Coast and Texas. The center’s four operating rooms provide space for more than 4,000 surgical procedures each year. The center’s clinical floor and 10 community clinic locations host more than 80,000 outpatient visits each year.
While only 10 years old, the current 82,500 square-foot center has already outgrown its space. Thanks to the generous support of John A. Moran and other donors, a new 200,000 square-foot Moran Eye Center is scheduled to open in late 2006. This new building will provide almost 30 percent more clinical and surgical space and will more than triple the amount of research space of the current building.
The Moran Eye Center operates in conjunction with the 400-bed University of Utah Hospital and the 121-bed Salt Lake Veterans Administration Medical Center. The Moran Eye Center and the Veterans Hospital serve as the principal training locations for our residents and fellows. Additional training is conducted at Primary Children’s Medical Center.
