Course # 7610–Clinical Ophthalmology for Nonspecialists
Prerequisite
Senior Medical Student
Rotation & Learning Objectives
Students will spend each working day with an ophthalmologist with an in-depth exposure to diagnosis and treatment of common eye problems. Time must be arranged in advance by the student with a clinical faculty (volunteer faculty) in Utah or the surrounding states (a list of participating physicians, subspecialties, addresses and phone numbers has been provided to the Student Affairs Office, School of Medicine. This list can also be obtained from the Ophthalmology’s Academic Office at 801.585.3719.
Testing
Testing to be proctored by the Ophthalmology’s Academic Office.
Evaluation Criteria
- Evaluations have been computerized and will be coordinated by the Ophthalmology’s Academic Office
- Evaluations will be completed by the resident or faculty on rotation with the medical student
- Evaluations are signed by Mark D. Mifflin, M.D., Director of Education
- Originals are sent to Margie Thompson, Student Affairs; copies are kept on file in the Ophthalmology’s Academic Office
Minimum 2 weeks, maximum 5 students
