Meet Dr. Cherukuri

Dr. Sudhakar Cherukuri, M.D., is the new supervisor of the Triage Clinic at the Moran Eye Center. He manages inpatient consultations, teaching residents and medical students, and building an ophthalmology practice.

Dr. Cherukuri was born and raised in the metro Detroit area. His family is originally from Andra Pradesh, India. He attended the University of Michigan where he did his undergraduate work, received a Masters in Public Health and his M.D. He completed residency training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit.

"In my spare time I enjoy traveling, astronomy, reading science fiction and mystery novels." Dr. Cherukuri says. "The highlight of my recent travels has been to visit and walk along the Great Wall of China. My favorite mystery author is Tony Hillerman."

Dr. Cherukuri says that, "Along with many of the other Moran faculty and staff, I feel a calling to provide care for the medically underserved and I hope to learn from my colleagues here how to incorporate this desire into my clinical activities."
