| Conjunctival
melanomas may be associated with primary acquired melanosis (75%) or may
arise from a pre-existing nevus or de-novo(#21917).
Prognostically, the two most important pathological features
concerning the likelihood of metastasis are the presence of a pagetoid
growth pattern in a PAM component and the thickness of the invasive
nodule. Dysplastic
melanocytes(#21918) may invade beyond the epithelium into the substantia
propria or into the globe or lids.
