Chronic Open Angle Glaucoma

Up

Chronic open angle glaucoma is an entity in which the intraocular pressure is elevated, leading to optic nerve and retinal damage with progressive loss of visual field.  Although the angle is often normal in chronic open angle glaucoma, some pathologic studies have found an increase in the compression or sclerosis of the trabecular bars (#22373) with some interruption of the endothelial cell lining (#21979).
