Sweat
gland cysts (SUDORIFEROUS CYST) of the lid are derived from either eccrine
glands or from the apocrine glands of Moll. The cysts are filled with watery fluid and are lined by one to two
layers of flattened cuboidal cells (#21819) (#21820).Apocrine-derived cyst lining cells have characteristic
"snouts" or apexes on the cell (#21822) (#21823), whereas
eccrine-derived cysts do not. These lesions are benign and treated with simple local
excision.
