Cornea Service

The Cornea Service at the University of Utah John A. Moran Eye Center is dedicated to excellence in both the consultation and the care of all anterior segment diseases. Use of state-of-the-art equipment and experience with complicated cases helps assure prompt diagnosis and appropriate medical and surgical care.

Services Include:

  • consultation in the medical and surgical management of all disorders of the cornea, conjunctiva, iris and lens
  • corneal transplantation
  • high risk keratoplasty
  • keratoplasty in association with iris and lens abnormalities
  • diagnosis and management of:
    • corneal ulcers
    • scleritis
    • ocular allergy
    • pemphigoid
  • computerized video corneal topography
  • microbiology evaluations
  • endothelial specular microscopy
  • anterior segment photography and angiography
  • therapeutic and refractive contact lens fittings
  • immunopathology and histopathology of conjunctival and corneal dieseases including pemphigoid and tumors
  • anterior segment photography and angiography

Investigational studies of refractive error as associated with anterior segment procedures as well as improvements in transplantation and cataract surgery techniques are ongoing.
