The Moran Eye Center optical shop is located on the first floor of the John A. Moran Eye Center on the University of Utah campus. We offer a range of services, including the latest in fashion eyewear, eyewear fitting and adjusting, sport goggles, fashion sunglasses and more. Our optical shop is supported by Moran's Optometry clinic and ophthalmology services - conveniently located within the same building.
Meet Our Doctors
Harald Olafsson, O.D.
Dr. Olafsson is the Director of Contact Lens Services and specializes in the fitting of contact lenses. His particular interests lie in the area of keratoconus, pediatrics, and fitting traumatized eyes and eyes with severe or irregular astigmatism. Dr. Olafsson also provides primary eye care for those who do or do not wear contact lenses.
Mark A. McKay O.D.
Dr. McKay specializes in full scope optometric care, including adult and pediatric care, contact lenses and job or hobby-related visual needs. He received his B.S. degree at the University of Utah and graduated with his O.D. from the University of California at Berkeley. In his spare time, Dr. McKay enjoys classical music, photography and computer applications. He speaks Spanish and caters to the needs of our Spanish-speaking population (Se habla Espanol).
Bryan Vincent, O.D.
Dr. Vincent specializes in contact lenses and ocular pathology. He also assists ophthalmologists at the Moran Eye Center in cataract and glaucoma management. Dr. Vincent attended Brigham Young University and the University of Utah, and received his Doctor of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. He has participated in several humanitarian vision care missions to West Africa and Mexico and has developed a program to provide low-cost eye care to low-income families in the Salt Lake area. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, karate, hiking and motorcycles.

Contact Lens Services
At the Moran Eye Center, we provide expert contact lens fittings and exams and offer the most current and comfortable contact lenses on the market. We have soft disposable lenses, soft disposable toric lenses (lenses that correct astigmatism), colored lenses, prosthetic (occluding) lenses, rigid gas permeable lenses, colored lenses, (occluding) prosthetic lenses, bifocal contacts and monovision lenses for our patients where both nearsightedness and farsightedness need correction. We also offer prescription colored contact lenses and colored contacts for those who want to change their eye color.
We have an in-house contact lens dispensary located on the fourth floor of our building, offering a faster turnaround time on contact lenses.
If you are a new contact lens wearer, our staff of experienced technicians and opticians will teach you how to insert, remove and care for your contact lenses to make your transition to contacts easy and help prevent any harm to your eyes.
We are the regional experts in finding innovative solutions for hard-to-fit patients. This includes patients who have very high corrections, dry eye, sensitive eyes, chronic allergies, are continuous computer users or who have previously failed to adapt to contact lenses.

Optical Shop
At the Moran Eye Center, we carry the latest eyewear fashions and personalize your eyewear to complement your features and the shape of your face. We carry top-of-the-line progressives, and options for the thinnest, lightest lenses at affordable prices.
In addition to our optical shop we have an optical fabrication lab on site with same-day services on many prescriptions.

That's why we have the newest choices in thinner, lighter, reflection-free and scratch-resistant lenses as well as top-of-the-line progressives lenses.
Our certified opticians are experts in frames, lenses, lens repairs and fit. They also lead the way when it comes to lens construction with expertise in lens tinting for those with special sensitivities to light. Elen Lindy, a pediatric technician specialist, also has years of experience fitting glasses for hard-to-fit children.
Sunglasses: Our extensive line of sunglasses include: Oakley©, Maui Jim©, Adidas©, Smith© and more. These brands cater to active outdoor activities such as skiing, golfing, biking and running.

Vision Correction Alternatives
If you are looking to get rid of your glasses for good, we are happy to talk with you about your vision correction options and suggest that you take advantage of the free educational forums held in the evenings at Moran clinics several times each month. These clinics will help you better understand your options and determine if you are a candidate for LASIK surgery or another alternative vision surgery. Our forums last approximately one hour and are presented by one of our world-class ophthalmic surgeons.
The refractive ophthalmologists at the Moran Eye Center have some of the highest successful vision correction outcomes in the Western United States. The Moran Eye Center is a regional referral center for complications after LASIK, and for complex procedures where the patient has special needs.
