Optometrists/Optometry Services



Clair R. Palmer, O.D.

Clair R. Palmer, O.D. received his B.S. degree from Brigham Young University, and his Doctor of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton California. His professional interests include general optometry with a special interest in contact lenses. He belongs to both the Utah and American Optometric associations. During his 20 years as the optometrist for the Utah Air National Guard, Dr. Palmer has practiced optometry in England, Korea, Japan, Germany, Virginia, Delaware, South Dakota, and California. He has been on humanitarian missions to Minsk, Belarus and Morocco. In his spare time Dr. Palmer enjoys traveling, woodworking, reading, good jazz, and spending time with his ever expanding family.



Scott A. Larson, M.D.

Larson provides medical and surgical care for a wide range of eye diseases and visual impairments in children, evaluation and management of strabismus in both children and adults. Dr. Larson provides specialized care for patients from across the Intermountain West.







Our dedicated staff consists of Dr. Palmer (optometrist), Dr. Scott Larson (pediatric ophthalmologist) and Teri Idle (optician).

Ophthalmology Services

What sets the ophthalmology services at the Moran Eye Center at Parkway Health Center apart from other vision care options available in the Orem? Dr. Palmer would be happy to discuss your options in regards to LASIK surgery or any other ophthalmology needs you may have.

Our pediatric ophthalmologist, Dr. Scott Larson is available for appointments every third Tuesday of the month.

Dr. Larson provides medical and surgical care for a wide range of eye diseases and visual impairments in children as well as evaluation and management of strabismus in both children and adults.

Contact Lens Services

At the Moran Eye Center at Parkway Health Center, we provide expert contact lens fittings and exams and offer the most current and comfortable contact lenses on the market. We have soft disposable lenses, soft disposable toric lenses (lenses that correct astigmatism), rigid gas permeable lenses, bifocal contacts and monovision lenses for our patients where both nearsightedness and farsightedness need correction.

If you are a new contact lens wearer, our staff of experienced doctors, technicians and opticians will teach you how to insert, remove and care for your contact lenses to make your transition to contacts easy and prevent any harm from occurring to your eyes.

We also offer prescription colored contact lenses and colored contacts for those who simply want to change their eye color. We are the regional experts in finding innovative solutions to our hard-to-fit patients. This includes patients who have very high prescriptions, dry eye, are continuous computer users, have chronic allergies, sensitive eyes and those who previously failed to adapt to contact lenses.

Vision Correction Alternatives

As the intermountain West's regional referral facility for LASIK and other vision complications, our University center doctors conduct pre-operative and post-operative laser vision examinations. We are happy to talk with you about your vision correction options and suggest that you take advantage of the free educational forums in the evenings at Moran clinics several times each month. This will help you understand your options and helps determine if you are a candidate for LASIK surgery. Our forums last approximately one hour and are presented by one of our world-class ophthalmic surgeons.

John A. Moran Eye Center has three world class ophthalmologists specializing in corneal and refractive surgery. One such specialist is Geoffrey Tabin M.D., who is the director of the International Ophthalmology Division of the Moran Eye Center. (He is an avid rock climber and has reached the summit of Mt. Everest.) Dr. Tabin performs the latest in LASIK surgery in the state-of-the-art operating room at the 210,000 square foot John A. Moran Eye Center in Salt Lake City. The refractive ophthalmologists at the Moran Eye Center have some of the highest successful vision correction outcomes in the Western United States. The Moran Eye Center is a regional referral center for complications after LASIK, and for complex procedures where the patient has special needs. We are renowned for our caring approach to LASIK and other vision correction procedures and long-term follow up.
