Moran Eye Center

Moran Refractive Division Studies

Comparison of LASIK and PRK Technologies

The University of Utah's Moran Eye Center is conducting a series of refractive surgery studies. Patients who participate will receive LASIK, PRK, or SBK at our usual study rate. We will be evaluating both custom and conventional laser treatments. Technology used will be the lasers currently utilized in every day operations at the Moran. Each of the lasers are FDA approved and have been shown to be effective for LASIK and PRK surgery.

The purpose of the studies is to evaluate and compare different laser procedures. This will allow us to collect data not currently available. We will be analyzing the different laser procedures and different eye healing patterns following surgery. The fees begin at $1,000 per eye and will include the screening exam and 3 months of follow-up care.

If you are interested in participating in the studies, you must be over 21 years of age and have healthy eyes with no previous eye surgery.
