Science and Technology Forum Features Presentations by Moran Doctors

On March 19, 2011, the Foundation for Fighting Blindness conference held a Science and Technology Forum at the John A. Moran Eye Center. Jim Hueber opened the Forum and speakers included retinal research specialists Dr. Paul Bernstein and Dr. Mary Elizabeth Hartnett. Other presenters included Bryan Jones, Ph.D. and Julia Kleinschmidt, Ph.D., L.C.S.W.




Paul BernsteinDr. Paul Bernstein is the Director of Clinical Research and the Associate Director of Research at the Moran Eye Center. Dr. Bernstein splits his time as a practicing physician and a researcher. He specializes in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery, retinal biochemistry, and macular and retinal degeneration.

ME HartnettDr. Mary Elizabeth Hartnett is a vitreoretinal surgeon who focuses on adult and pediatric retinal care as well as age-related macular degeneration (AMD). As a researcher, The Hartnett Laboratory investigates the causes of retinal avascularity and studies abnormal angiogenesis.

Bryan JonesBryan Jones, Ph.D., is a Research Assistant Professor at the Moran and focuses his research in the Marc Laboratory on retinal neurotransmission, neurocircuitry and metabolomics. Aside from Dr. Jones work as a researcher, he contributes to the imaging team at the Moran and is the webmaster of the newly re-established Webvision, a site which is used as a resource for the latest advancements in visual systems and research.
