  • Dinner and CE Presentation, "Preventing Elder Investment Fraud: Assessing for Vulnerability to Financial Exploitation"

    The Utah Geriatrics Society is hosting a dinner and continuing education program on November 16, 2011 at the Little America Hotel. Dr. Randall Rupper will be the discussing the Elder Investment Fraud and Financial Exploitation (EIFFE) Prevention Program, and will then be joined for a panel discussion by Kelly Davis Garrett, Maureen Henry, Nan Mendenhall, and Keith Woodwell. The EIFFE Prevention Program teaches healthcare professionals how to screen for vulnerability to financial exploitation in older persons. The EIFFE Prevention Program in Utah is part of a larger coalition of 27 states and jurisdictions joining clinician educators with investor educators to combat the high prevalence of fraud perpetrated against older Americans. Hosted by the University of Utah Center on Aging.

This year's Symposium will feature a Keynote presentation by Dr. Malaz Boustani, Associate Professor of Medicine, Center Scientist at the Indiana University Center for Aging Research, and Research Director at the Healthy Aging Brain Center at Indiana University.

    The National Academy of Neuropsychology (NAN) held its 30th Annual Conference in Vancouver in October 2010. At the conference, Kevin Duff, Ph.D., discussed "Evidence-Based Indicators of Neuropsychological Change in the Individual Patient" (NAN CE Workshop #24) and Gordon J. Chelune, Ph.D., ABPP(CN), presented "Understanding and Using Evidence-Based Clinical Neuropsychological Principles in Daily Practice" (NAN CE Workshop #35), an overview of a model for evidence-based neuropsychology science and practice.   • AAN Seminar: "Improving Accuracy of Dementia Diagnosis:
    Case Studies with Both Imaging and Neuropathology" (2007-11)

    Presented at the 2007-2011 Annual Meetings of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN)

    Directed by Norman L. Foster, M.D., this program asks participants to diagnose dementia case studes based on clinical scenarios alone, and again after visual interpretation of neuroimaging.
