Microarray Core

The Microarray Core Facility provides researchers in the CEMH with a highly sensitive and comprehensive tool for the discovery of differentially regulated genes. The facility, which is housed on the 3rd floor of the Huntsman Cancer Institute, supports both the Agilent microarray platform and likewise microarrays that are printed in house. The lab can provide experimental handling of all aspects of the microarray process.

Services Include:

  • RNA purification

  • Evaluation of RNA quality on an Agilent BioAnalyzer

  • Printing of microarray slides

  • Labeling of samples with Cy3 and Cy5

  • Microarray hybridization

  • Microarray scanning

  • Quantification of microarray images

  • cDNA clone distribution

The facility has acquired several key pieces of instrumentation for performing this process including an Amersham Lucidea Array Spotter, an Axon Instruments GenePix 4000B Scanner, an Agilent Bioanalyzer, an Agilent microarray hybridization system, a Nanodrop spectrophotometer and BioDiscovery ImaGene 5 microarray quantification software.

The Microarray Core Facility maintains a site license for BioDiscovery's GeneSight microarray analysis software that can be assessed by clients of the facility. Additional help in the analysis and interpretation of microarray data can be acquired by contacting Brett Milash, who directs the Microarray BioInformatics Resource.
