About Us

Our purpose is to improve the health and well being of women by coordinating women's health programs. The goals are to develop and evaluate integrated interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary model health care systems that foster recruitment by:

Our group (Kathleen Digre, Michael Varner, Patricia Murphy, Caren Frost, Kirtly Parker-Jones, Jennifer VanHorn, Sally Patrick, Janet Shaw) representing the School of Medicine, Colleges of Nursing, Health and Social Work, along with the Eccles Health Sciences Library, are working together on this project. We are striving to bring a diverse group of faculty crossing many disciplines (medicine, nursing, health education, pharmacy, information specialists, social work) collaborating to build a CoE at the University of Utah.

We are stressing outreach to the underserved at the South Main Clinic, as well as "one-stop shopping" for women's health where possible. We believe the idea of a CoE embodies many of the goals of the Health Sciences Center as well as the University of Utah. Our goal is to have participation of all of the schools within the Health Sciences in each of our projects in some way, and we look forward to working to make University of Utah truly a Center of Excellence in Women's Health.
