About the HSC Information Security Office
The UUHSC ITS Information Security Office officially opened its doors on April 1, 2001 in response
to increased security risk and liability issues faced by the institution. Our work focuses on
five primary areas: Risk Analysis/Mitigation, Incident Response and Analysis, Technical Implementations,
Training, and Community Leadership.
Our Relationship With Main Campus
The ITS Information Security Office is accountable for the Information Security and Privacy
needs of the Health Sciences Center. How do we differ from the Institutional Security Office?
The Institutional Security Office (ISO) aggregates the diverse information security needs of
the campus and generalizes it to the least common denominator. In other words, the ISO ensures
the general information security well-being of the campus as a whole, while the UUHSC Information
Security Office (UUHSC ISO) builds upon these efforts to respond to the more specific needs of the
Health Sciences Center. The UUHSC ISO is a member of the Institutional Security Office.
