GWGuardian Provides Value for End Users and IT Professionals at Utah Health Sciences
With nearly 15000 email accounts the University of Utah Health
Sciences Center consists of the University Hospital, clinics and three
colleges. Since January 2005, the University Health Care IT Department
has been using GWGuardian as the gateway solution to protect their
email system. Currently, there are 25 GroupWise POs running to meet the
needs of both students and faculty.
"We heard about GWGuardian at BrainShare 2004," explains KC Wise,
Senior Systems Analyst at the Health Care Center. "Prior to that, we
were using Spam Assassin and Guinevere, but that required a lot of
customization and time that I didn't have. Since the deployment of
GWGuardian, I have really freed up a lot of my time since I don't have
to update the filters, the anti-spam engine gets updated automatically.
"Moreover, the fact that users are able to customize their spam
filters through the web portal makes this product an excellent choice
for educational institutions that have to abide by the freedom of
expression principles. With GWGuardian we can do that without having to
manage it. In fact, we've had great feedback from users, who are really
happy with the results.
"I definitely recommend GWGuardian as a messaging firewall. We are
so confident in the product that we have a three-year contract with
Messaging Architects. The excellent aspect of GWGuardian is that it
sits at the gateway level in front of the email server. So, if at some
point we do decide to switch email platforms, we don't have to worry
about changing the security layer."
