Dr. Tabin in Nepal

Spring 2011 Plans

In Spring 2011 a team of physicians including Dr. Geoff Tabin, Dr. Alan Crandall, Dr. Paul Bernstine, and Dr. Robert Hoffman will travel independently to work side by side with Dr. Peter Armah, Dr. Seth Lartey, and prior graduating International Observers. Dr. Bhim Rai will continue his hands on training at the Tilganga Eye Institute in Kathmandu Nepal, before returning The Moran Eye Center for his final training.


4th Quarter 2010 Graduating International Fellows/Observers

Dr. Seth Lartey, Director of Residency and Outreach at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, Ghana, has completed his training in cornea under Dr. Geoffrey Tabin, working with the leading experts in the field at the Moran Eye Center.

Dr. Peter Armah, also from KATH, has completed his training in Oculoplastic, working under the direction of Dr. Patel and Dr. Kim.

Dr. Bhim Bahadur Rai from Bhutan has completed his training in Retina under the direction of Dr. Bernstein, Vitalie, and Hartnett...

Each of the three physicians has successfully completed a three month International Observership here at The John A Moran Eye Center. Dr.'s Lartey, Armah, and Rai have taken full advantage of the educational opportunity to observe and study first hand clinical and surgical practices available at the John A Moran Eye Center. The International Division at the John A Moran Eye Center under the direction of Dr. Geoffrey Tabin, in partnership with the Himalayan Cataract Project; prides itself on the training and education physician's from rural economically challenged areas of remote regions of Asia and Africa, and providing them with the lifelong learning tools to return to their homeland. They take the skills they have learned side by side with our team of experts to improve the quality of eye care, and eradicate curable and preventable blindness.
