Xanthelasma

Up

These lesions are characterized clinically by multiple, flat or plaque- like, yellow thickenings on the eyelids.  Histologically, the dermal tissue in these lesions is thickened by fatty deposits within the tissue (#21829).  The dermis is characteristically invaded by multiple clusters of lipid-laden macrophages or histiocytes which have a pale, foamy cytoplasm containing the fatty material (#21831).
