Pharmacists are available from 7 am to 3 pm on each patient care unit to provide clinical services and may be reached via digital pager. Services after 3 pm are provided from the Central Pharmacy area.
Centralized Pharmacy & Intravenous Admixtures (IV Center)

Pharmacists are available 24 hours daily to process orders and provide clinical pharmacy services. The IV center is staffed 24-hours daily and prepares all parenteral solution admixtures (piggybacks, syringes, total parenteral nutrition).

The Pharmacy Department uses a variety of technology to support clinical pharmacy services. Sure-Med dispensing machines are located on each unit to support cartless medication delivery.
PharmNet is the Pharmacy Department's order entry system and the Department is actively pursuing barcode technologies and physician order entry.
Drug Information Service (DIS)

Drug Information Specialists are experts at providing information pertaining to a variety of therapeutic and clinical topics. Additionally, the DIS supports the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee, Adverse Drug Reaction program, and provides newsletters and email alerts to healthcare professionals. The DIS is available from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm , Monday through Friday to respond to drug information requests from health care professionals of the University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics.- Learn more about the Drug Information Service

The IDS service assists investigators with drug information, distribution, and accountability aspects of clinical drug studies. The IDS also helps prescribers obtain “compassionate use” drugs when needed.

The HCH opened July 1, 2004 with 24 hour pharmacy services. The HCH Inpatient Pharmacy may be reached at 587-4093, and the Outpatient Pharmacy may be reached at 581-7708. The Pharmacists will be on site from 7 am to 11 pm. After 11 pm pharmacy services are provided from the inpatient central pharmacy.
University of Utah Neuropsychiatric Institute (UUNI)

The UUNI provides mental health and substance abuse treatment to inpatients and outpatients. Comprehensive pharmaceutical care is provided to all patients. A pharmacist is available Mon-Fri 9 am-10 pm; Sat 9 am-5 pm; and Sun 2 pm-6 pm. After hours, a pharmacist is on-call and can be contacted via pager.
