Open Position: Assistant Director- Clinical
Job Summary
The Utah Poison Control Center (UPCC) is seeking an Assistant Director- Clinical. Conveniently located adjacent to the University of Utah campus in Research Park, the UPCC provides a 24-hour emergency telephone triage and information service to the general public and healthcare professionals of Utah. The UPCC also provides poison prevention outreach education, plays a key role in the education of pharmacy students and medical residents as well as collaborates on various research projects. The UPCC is staffed by a multi-disciplinary team consisting of registered nurses, pharmacists, and physicians. The Assistant Director- Clinical position is a member of the poison center management team and directly supervises approximately 12 specialists in poison information. The Assistant Director- Clinical oversees recruitment, scheduling, evaluation, conflict resolution, and training, precepts students and fulfills administrative duties assigned by the Director.
Job Duties
Provides direct supervision of clinical staff, conducts performance reviews, resolves conflicts and maintains situational awareness of call center staffing. Develops and maintains training programs including coordinating training of new staff, developing continuing education and encouraging participation in professional development activities. Coordinates completion of call center schedule. Fulfills specified duties for pharmacist-specialist in poison information including coordinating student precepting and antidote/laboratory surveys. Coordinates clinical staff recruitment including screening, scheduling interviews and hiring process. Assists director with various tasks including administrative on-call, policy development, employee satisfaction, serving as liaison to local/state entities, media spokesperson, promoting positive work atmosphere and emergency response.
Qualifications
A practice degree in Pharmacy and Utah State licensure to practice pharmacy; controlled substances license; and two years experience as a Pharmacist. ABAT eligible: completion of a clinical toxicology residency or fellowship or certified specialist in poison information with equivalent experience. Demonstrated human relation, organization and effective communication skills are also required.
Work Schedule
Full time, mostly day shifts with some rotation between, evenings, nights and weekends.
