Why in Utah?
Utah is an excellent place to do this type of research!
- Scientists believe psoriasis is in part a genetic disease that can run in families.
- The genealogy records from the Utah pioneers have allowed researchers to link large families together.
- We may be able to link your information to other close or distant relatives using the Utah Population
Database.
- The information in the database is held at the University of Utah under a high level of security.
By linking the genetic and medical information from a large number of people with
psoriasis and their relatives, we can search for genes that cause different levels
of risk for psoriasis.
We hope to use this information to identify effective psoriasis
treatments in the future.
