The Department of Radiation Oncology is part of a rapidly expanding academic medical center at the University of Utah. Staffed with six board certified radiation oncologists as well as a full complement of physics, dosimetry, therapist, and nursing support personnel, the department provides comprehensive radiation therapy services. In addition, our multidisciplinary partnership with surgical, medical and pediatric oncology, pathology and radiology allows us to provide state-of-the-art conventional and experimental therapy to our patients.

The department operates two radiation therapy clinics, one at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital; the only National Cancer Institute designated a Comprehensive Cancer Center in Utah, as well as a satellite clinic at St. Mark's Hospital. Cancer patients are referred from not only the University of Utah, and St. Mark's Hospital, but also from the Salt Lake Veterans Administration Medical Center and Primary Children's Medical Center, as well as other facilities throughout the region.

Special areas of departmental expertise include:

The Department has grown over the years and with the move to the Huntsman Cancer Hospital in 2004 has joined with the Huntsman Cancer Institute to create the foundation of a vast Cancer Center for the Intermountain West.
