OSHA #7105: Introduction to Evacuation & Emergency Planning


The goal of this course is to increase the participant's knowledge of emergency planning and the features of good evacuation floor plans.  The increased concern about terrorism since September 11, 2001, has forced small business representatives to think seriously about the need to plan what they will do in the event of all types of emergencies.  OSHA has recently (November 9, 2002) revised Subpart E of Part 1910 to reorganize and clarify the text.  Additionally, the name of the subpart has been changed from “Means of Egress” to “Exit Routes, Emergency Action Plans, and Fire Prevention Plans” to better describe the contents.  The target audience is the small employer, business owner, or a representative (e.g. line supervisor or site manager) designated with the responsibility to plan for emergencies and evacuation procedures.
