Monitoring method development for antineoplastic agents and other hazardous chemicals, design of ventilation systems for controlling exposures, biological monitoring and development of monitoring indices, indoor environmental evaluation methods (both chemical and biological contaminants). |
Short Bio:

Dr. Larson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine, Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health at the University of Utah. He teaches courses related to occupational and environmental health, as well as industrial toxicology. He directs research in areas related to monitoring for chemical, physical and biological contaminants, application of engineering controls, and use of personal protective equipment. Rod has over 30 years of experience, 14 of which he spent working full-time in industry with a major petro-chemical company. For the past 14 years he has managed his own occupational and environmental consulting business while also completing his Ph.D. with focus on development of methods for evaluating exposures to chemotherapy agents.

Leon's research interests include indoor air quality (mold, gasses, & ventilation), environmental concerns (particulates, aerosols, organic compounds, & air quality), bioavailability and other transport of elements in the human lung (mechanism, silica, zinc, beryllium, & other metals), occupational site monitoring and development of engineering controls (noise, aerosols, gasses, vapors, & particulates) and projects involving chemistry in industrial hygiene applications. |

Leon is a Research Assistant Professor at the Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (Center) at the University of Utah and began his career June 2005. He teaches industrial hygiene and related courses at the Center. He has three years experience as a faculty/post-doctorate teacher and researcher at Oklahoma State University. He has 19 years of petroleum and natural gas industrial experience with 16 years being in the petroleum/mining industry (UNOCAL, Parachute, Colorado). |

Scott Collingwood is a Research Associate at the Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health at the University of Utah. Currently a PhD candidate in Industrial Hygiene at the University of Iowa, Scott will be team-teaching courses in the Department of Family and Preventative Medicine during the 2005-2006 academic year. In addition to teaching, Scott will be responsible for organizing and directing Continuing Education training programs in Industrial Hygiene. Current research interests center on the development of engineering controls and understanding their ergonomic implications as they relate to aerosol exposure in the construction and agricultural industries. Scott earned an engineering undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa and worked in business and industry for nearly 10 years before returning to academia for graduate training. |

D. Jeff Burton

D. Jeff Burton, BS, MS, PE, CIH, has degrees in mechanical engineering and occupational and environmental health. He is an internationally-known engineering cunsultant and the author of popular books, training courses and self-directed study programs in industrial ventilation and HVAC.
Jeff has served as President and member of the Board of Directors of the American Industrial Hygiene Association, a membership organization of over 12,000 professionals. He is also a member of ACGIH and ASHRAE. He has been a member of the ACGIH Industrial Ventilation Committee and the ANSI Z9.5 Subcommittee for Lab Ventilation. He is currently Chair of the ANSI Z9.2 Subcommittee on Industrial Ventilation, the ANSI Z9.8 Subcommittee on IAQ/HVAC, and the ANSI Z9.10 Subcommittee on Dilution Ventilation.
He is currently AIHA’s official Ambassador to Japan and the Local Section Council Chairperson and attends AIHA Board Meetings.

Frank DeRosso

Mr. DeRosso has over 19-years of professional experience, holds a Masters of Science in Public Health (Industrial Hygiene) and is certified by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene in the comprehensive practice of industrial hygiene (CIH). Mr. DeRosso is currently a managing partner for Rocky Mountain Environmental Consultants, LLC and has 16-years of experience in providing industrial hygiene, safety and health consulting for a variety of clients throughout the west. Mr. DeRosso's specialty areas include: OSHA compliance and regulations, Health and safety program development and evaluation, Hazardous waste remediation health and safety plans, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) investigations, Clean Air Act permitting and compliance.
