Statistics

Since 2005, when the transfer center opened, telephone calls and patient volumes have increased significantly. With over 5,000 in-coming and out-going telephone calls per month, the department handles over 60,000 calls annually. With well over 700 patients per month, this averages out to be approximately 6 telephone calls per patient.

Our patients come from all over the nation- from as close as the children's hospital next door, to as far away as Hawaii and Florida. We have also facilitated many consultations and transfers from around the world. Some of these include patients from Egypt, Germany, China, Afghanistan and Greece.

Staffing

With backgrounds in Critical Care, Emergency Medicine, Emergency Preparedness and Hospital Supervision, our nurses have up to 25 years of experience, with University Health Care.

Transfer Center Coordinators are experienced Emergency Medical Dispatchers, EMTs, medical assistants, and/or Communications Specialists.

With call volumes continuously increasing, we have been expanding our staff and adjusting staffing patterns.
