What is Perinatal Outreach Education?

Nurse Education and physicians offer education lectures on various topics regarding caring for the obstetric or newborn patient either at Perinatal Outreach Conferences or at referral facilities.

Who are the educators?

The lectures are given by perinatologists, neonatologists, certified nurse midwives, neonatal nurse practitioners and clinical nurse educators with expertise in their fields.

How is course content decided upon?

Course content for the Perinatal Outreach Conference is decided upon by a collaborative team based on trends or needs identified by the team. Specific topics can be requested by a facility for on-site workshops. Recent topics include; Bleeding disorders or pregnancy, DIC, review of maternal physiology of the pregnant woman, review of the S.T.A.B.L.E. program, and newborns needing surgical interventions. Case studies are also used as an educational tool.
